Jasmine Dale, permaculture practitioner, author and Lammas Ecovillage builder, shares her concept of the Bodyometer, using our bodies to observe and survey.
When designing a new site with permaculture, the first and most important job is to survey and observe, and our own body is the best tool for this.
Our five senses enable us to connect deeply with the landscape, improving our tracking skills, and testing our intuition. It helps us make sense of our surroundings; why it works as it does and how we can incorporate our own design into this current system. Using our bodyometer also grounds us, helping to allay eco-anxiety, a common issue in this difficult age.
