The European Permaculture Convergence 2012 is taking place between the 1st - 5th August, at Escherode, Germany

. If you wish to explore permaculture on the edges, the Transition Town movement, collective economic activities and much more then read on.

The European Permaculture Convergence 2012 (EUPC 2012) is a great opportunity to meet those from across the whole continent, share skills, attend workshops and to explore what it really means to focus on collective intelligence and transformation, exchange and learning, and on the networks of change which the hosts want to bring to the world.

The hosts are a young, politically motivated commune at the Permakultur Institut e.V, Essbare Stadt and Transition Town Kassel, Soned e.V. and gASTWERKe e.V.

Also taking place in Kassel will be the dOKUMENTA(13) art show, which has the theme of 'collapse and recovering'.

As permaculture creators the host group are particularly interested in fringe zones, transitional spaces, areas where differences become mixed. "We are interested in what happens then" they say. "Generative processes take place, new things are created because the relationships between things and phenomena are particularly varied and manyfold. We want to be those who create links, who turn a space of possibilities into probabilities. This is our vision for EUPC 2012."

They continue: "Many permaculture networks use nature as a role model to learn from. What unites them is the desire to act as a healing, sustaining, protective and regenerative force, be they deep ecologists, wildnerness schools, transition-inspired, ecovillagers, communards, self-sustaining, social workers or monetary reformers. We focus on different subjects and sometimes use different words and terms, but there is much more that unites us than what seperates us. We can learn from each other, listen, copy and exchange methods and appproaches. We want to connect these networks, thereby accelerating the changes we long for."
