TOWNEND COMMUNITY GARDEN, based in Chapel en le Frith, is looking for a new volunteer to lead the three weekly gardening sessions. You would be leading a team of volunteers who are very enthusiastic but need direction from a more experienced gardener. You would have the support of the small voluntary management team.This would be a great opportunity for someone passionate about permaculture to help us to develop further. We are committed to organic methods of gardening and gardening for biodiversity. We grow crops in raised beds, one of which is no-dig, another is companion planting and a third is 4-crop rotation, to show volunteers and visitors the different options for growing. We also have both mown and unmown grass areas planted with bulbs, ten fruit trees, a herb and soft fruit bed, traditional flower beds, two small wildflower meadows, a pond, a woodpile and a bug hotel.
