The Regenesis Project sits on a beautiful 17 hectare mountainous property in the heart of Bohol, one of the most popular travel destinations in the Philippines, made famous by the unique geological formations known as the Chocolate Hills.
The site is a learning centre and example of how degraded land around the archipelago can be regenerated. Years of illegal logging and agricultural expansion using slash and burn practices reduced the once forested country to single species grassland.
As a member of the Ecosystem Restoration Communities movement, a global network of ‘Living Labs’, Regenesis is able to experiment and innovate the best strategies. The aim is to provide solutions for a range of ecosystems like tropical forests, marine or coastal ecosystems, freshwater ecosystems, agroecological ecosystems, mangroves and more.
