Biomatrix Water create floating ecosystems used to clean water and create biodiverse waterscapes.
They have implemented these systems across the globe, from Thailand, to Spain, Finland and the UK.
The floating systems are specifically designed to improve water quality by harnessing nature’s power. They create a long-term sustainable solution to water management, without the use of chemicals.
Their River Lea project, in collaboration with the waterway charity, Thames 21, has dramatically improved the water. The floating ecosystem has been installed onto the sheet-pile edges of the River Lea at Tottenham Lock.
Before the installation
After the installation
The vertical sheet-pile embankment, as well as fluctuating flow velocity of the waterway, required the use of innovative and site-specific anchoring methods that provide both stability and durability.
The floating ecosystems have created lush biodiversity and habitat along the hard edged banks of the canal which has created a vibrant and beautiful natural environment for pedestrians, boaters and water-sports enthusiasts.
The Biomatrix Floating Ecosystems can be used to treat water with:
BOD/ COD Biological / Chemical Oxygen Demand
Nitrogen
Phosphorous
Suspended Solids
Algae / Cyanobacteria
Pathogens
Metals, Copper, Zinc, Iron
